Nathan Walker News

The Blues have recalled Nathan Walker from Springfield (AHL).

With Vladimir Tarasenko and Robert Thomas out and Oskar Sundqvist traded to the Red Wings on Monday, the Blues were down to 10 healthy forwards. Walker, who has 44 points (19G / 25A) in 47 AHL games this season, is expected to suit up as the 11th forward.

The Blues have signed Nathan Walker to a two-year, two-way contract extension.

Walker has put up strong AHL numbers over the years but hasn't been much of a factor at the NHL level. Over the last three years, he has scored two goals with two assists (four points) in 16 games with the Capitals and Blues. Look for him to remain in the AHL for most of 2021-22.

The Hurricanes have signed Antoine Bibeau to a one-year, two-way contract.

Bibeau has primarily served as a AHL netminder since being drafted in the sixth-round in 2013. He has played just four NHL games, allowing nine goals on 97 shots (.907 SV%). He will likely serve as Alex Nedeljkovic's backup in the AHL to start 2021.

The Avalanche have acquired Antoine Bibeau from the Sharks for Nicolas Meloche.

The Avalanche bolster their goaltending depth a bit by adding the 25-year-old Bibeau. The former sixth-round pick was 16-18-3 with a 2.89 GAA and .904 SV% with the San Jose Barracuda (AHL) last year. He will report to the Colorado Eagles.

Walker will become the first Australian player to play in the NHL on Saturday.

Walker, 23, a Sydney, Australia native will make his NHL debut vs. the Canadiens on Saturday. The 5-foot-8, 186 lbs. winger showed some good offensive talent in the AHL in 2015-16, collecting 41 points (17G / 24A) in 73 games but had a more difficult time last season, posting just 11 goals and 12 assists (23 points) in 58 games.

Bibeau will start Thursday in Tampa Bay.

Bibeau allowed two goals on 28 shots in the Maple Leafs loss to Colorado on December 11th. Bibeau was supposed to get a start before the Christmas break, but it never happened, but Mike Babcock will stick to his guns tonight and start Bibeau tonight in Tampa Bay. Bibeau has gone 7-7-1 with a 2.46 GAA and .908 SV% in 16 starts with the Marlies this season.
