Ray Emery News

Emery is expected to start on Wednesday vs. the Pens.

Emery allowed three goals on 38 shots in a loss to the Habs on October 11th; his only start of the season. He recorded a win last Saturday in relief of Steve Mason, but with the Flyers playing their second game in two nights and taking on a great Penguins team, it is hard to have faith in Emery as a reliable spot-start tonight.

Emery will get his first start of the year tonight.

Steve Mason allowed seven goals on 58 shots (.879 SV%) in the Flyers first two games, so they will turn to Emery tonight vs. Montreal. Emery had a spectacular season in the lockout shortened season with Chicago, but struggled to find his way back in Philly in 2013-14. He gets a tough matchup tonight and should be avoided as a spot start.

Ray Emery has arguably been the Flyers' best player in the first two playoff games against the New York Rangers, and he will start Game 3 Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Center, with Cal Heeter as his backup.

Emery played well in Game 2, earning him the start for Game 3. It appears his leash is short, however, as the Flyers may be quick to put Mason in if he's healthy for Game 4.

Emery will start Game 1.

Emery, who is 7-2-0 (.936 SV%, 1.87 GAA) lifetime against the Rangers, would appear to get the start at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night. Emery started the Flyers’ last game there - on March 26 - his only blemish in New York. Though Emery’s statistics this season (9-12-2, .903, 2.96) are not pretty, he has played against the stiffest competition in the NHL (Boston, St. Louis, Los Angeles, San Jose, Chicago) since the Olympic break.

Emery will start in goal for the Flyers.

Emery gave up four goals on 41 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Bruins on Saturday. Emery has posted a 2.18 GAA and .933 SV% in his last four outings, but that has only resulted in a 1-2-1 record. Tonight, he start in Tampa Bay, and the road has not been very friendly to Emery this season. In 15 starts away from Wells Fargo Center, he is 4-9-2 with a 2.99 GAA and .902 SV%.

Emery will start for the Flyers on Saturday.

Emery stopped all 28 shots that he faced in a 1-0 shootout loss to the Blues on Tuesday. He was rewarded with the shutout, but not the win. The Flyers' backup has posted a 1.59 GAA and .947 SV% in his three most recent starts. Philly has not done him any favours starting him vs. the Hawks, Kings and Blues, now he will face the Bruins this afternoon.

Emery will start Tuesday vs. the Blues.

Emery allowed three goals on 41 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Kings on March 24. Emery went 1-1-0 in March and carries a 4-8-1 record, 3.16 GAA and .895 SV% road record into St. Louis tonight. This matchup has ugly written all over it.

Emery starts in goal for the Flyers.

Emery stopped 23 of 25 shots in a 3-2 overtime win over the Blackhawks last Tuesday. It was a much better outing than his first one vs. Chicago. The Flyers do not have a back-to-back and Steve Mason has been unreal lately, so it is surprising to see Emery getting the nod. That said, he will face the Kings tonight at the Wells Fargo Center, where he is 4-1-0 this season.

Emery starts in goal for the Flyers.

With the Flyers playing their third game in four days, they will give Steve Mason a breather and get Emery in the crease for the first time since February 27. He was battling a groin injury last week, but is healthy enough to start tonight vs. his former team. His first start vs. the Blackhawks was an ugly one. He allowed six goals and 18 shots before being pulled early in the third… Look elsewhere tonight.

Ray Emery
Emery (lower-body) will not travel to Toronto.

Emery remains day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Cal Heeter will stay with the club until Emery is healthy enough to return. Emery's injury can not be too serious or you would have to believe the Flyers would have claimed Devan Dubnyk earlier in the week.

Emery leads the Flyers onto the ice for warmups and gets the starts vs. Berra and the Flames.

Emery allowed five goals on 39 shots in a loss to the Blue Jackets in his last start back on January 23. He has had one relief effort since then, giving up two goals on 14 shots vs. the B's. With tonight being the last day of the fantasy week, Emery should make for a strong last-ditch effort spot-start vs. the Flames.

Emery gets the nod in Columbus.

Emery allowed three goals on 43 shots in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders on Monday. Despite the loss, Emery looked extremely sharp all afternoon. He will get a second crack at the Blue Jackets tonight. In the first meeting he allowed five goals on 28 shots in a 6-3 loss.

Emery starts on Long Island this afternoon.

Emery stopped all five shots that he faced to record the victory after replacing Steve Mason on Saturday vs. the Islanders. It was a win that won't help his fantasy owners because he didn't get the start, but he will look to duplicate that W vs. the same Isles team today. Emery is 6-8-0 with a 2.86 GAA and .897 SV% this season.

Ray Emery
Emery will get call between the pipes tonight.

Emery stopped all seven shots that he faced after replacing Steve Mason for the third period of Saturday's loss to the Lightning. In Emery's last three outings he is 2-0-0 with a 1.27 GAA and .953 SV% so he should make for a solid Sunday spot-start against the Rangers.
