John Gibson will start Friday.
Gibson allowed four goals on 30 shots (.867 SV%) for his second loss in three games as he was defeated by Seattle in his last start. The 29-year-old has improved on a nightmarish season with his solid play of late, leading to his 13-24-7 record, 3.89 GAA and .902 SV%. He will face the Calgary Flames, who have won their last two-games and are second in the NHL in shots per game (35.4).
Cam Talbot will be out for three weeks with a mid-body injury.
Talbot was a late scratch for the Senators' game Monday night and is now expected to miss three weeks due to a "mid-body" injury. The 35-year-old veteran netminder has struggled at times in his first season in Ottawa, as he has a 15-14-1 record, 2.85 GAA and .905 SV%.
Ian Mitchell will draw back into the Blackhawks lineup Wednesday vs. Detroit (hamstring).
Mitchell has missed the Blackhawks' previous three games due to a hamstring injury but will draw back into Chicago's lineup Wednesday. The 24-year-old has a goal, four assists, 20 SOG, and a -11 plus/minus through 24 games played prior to the injury.

Talbot stopped 19 of 21 shots (.905 SV%) for his third-straight victory as he beat Columbus in his previous start. The 35-year-old has had an up-and-down first season in the Nation's Capital, with his 15-14-1 record, 2.85 GAA and .905 SV%. He will face the Chicago Blackhawks, who unloaded their roster at the trade deadline, and have lost four-straight games in the meantime.
Appleton (upper-body) will be back in the Jets lineup on Monday.
Appleton has missed the Jets' last two games with an upper-body injury and will return to the Winnipeg lineup Monday as they take on San Jose. The 27-year-old has two goals, seven assists, 32 SOG, six PIMs and a -2 plus/minus through 22 games played before the injury.

It is a tough loss for the 23-year-old, who was having a career year with 10 goals, 19 assists, 88 SOG, 43 PIMS and a +2 plus/minus through 56 games prior to the injury.

The 29-year-old has improved his numbers as of late, but still has an ugly 12-23-6 record, 3.96 GAA and .902 SV%. He will take on the Washington Capitals, who have lost seven of their last eight games after a 7-4 loss to Buffalo last game.
Alexandre Doucet has been signed to a three-year entry-level contract with the Detroit Red Wings.
Doucet has 45 goals, 44 assists, 36 PIMs and a +34 plus/minus through 58 games with Halifax and Val-d'Or (QMJHL) and has been signed to a three-year entry-level contract Wednesday with the Detroit Red Wings. The 21-year-old went undrafted despite having 75 points (33G/42A) in 68 games in 2021-22.
