Simon Edvinsson had surgery on his left shoulder and is expected to be out for 4 to 6 months.

Edvinsson had two goals, 40 SOG, 12 PIMs and a -7 plus/minus across nine games in his first showing with the Detroit Red Wings this season but will now be forced to miss 4-6 months as he recovers from left shoulder surgery. The 20-year-old was Detroit's 2021 first-round pick (6th overall) and will hope to have an update as we return for the 2023-24 season.

Erik Gustafsson will be a healthy scratch for Game 1 vs. Florida.

Gustafsson made his playoff debut in Game 7 vs. Tampa Bay as the Maple Leafs dressed seven defensemen but will head back to the press box for Game 1 in the second round vs. Florida on Tuesday. The 31-year-old had seven goals, 35 assists, 122 SOG, 23 PIMs and a +9 plus/minus through 70 games between Toronto and Washington during the regular season.

Dylan Larkin (lower-body) will draw back into the Red Wings' lineup Thursday.

Larkin missed the Red Wings' previous contest due to a lower-body injury and will draw back into the Red Wings' lineup Thursday vs. Tampa Bay. The 26-year-old has 32 goals, 47 assists, 241 SOG, 45 PIMs and a -4 plus/minus through 79 games this season prior to his injury.

The Red Wings have reassigned Simon Edvinsson to Grand Rapids (AHL).

Edvinsson played his ninth NHL game of the season on Monday, so he'll go to the AHL for the rest of the season to preserve the first year of his entry-level contract. Edvinsson had two goals in games with Detroit and returned to AHL, where he has 27 points (5G / 22A) in 51 games.

Patrick Kane will be out of the Rangers' lineup for a second-straight game Thursday (lower-body).

Kane missed the Rangers game Wednesday vs. Tampa Bay due to a lower-body injury and will remain out of the lineup Thursday. The 34-year-old has 21 goals, 34 assists, 221 SOG, 55 PIMs and a -22 plus/minus through 70 games played with New York and Chicago this season.

John Gibson will be a game-time decision Wednesday vs. Edmonton (lower-body).

Gibson left the Ducks' previous game half way through the third period due to a lower-body injury and will now be a game-time decision to dress Wednesday. The 29-year-old has had a nightmarish 2022-23 season, with his 14-30-8 record, 3.99 GAA and .899 SV%.
