Appleton was picked in the expansion draft but the Jets reunite with the 26-year-old for a fourth-round pick. Appleton could replace Andrew Copp, who may be on the move before Monday's trade deadline. Appleton has scored six goals with 11 assists (17 points) in 49 games this season.

Hamonic is in the first year of a two-year deal that carries a $3.0M AAV cap-hit. The Canucks did not retain any salary in the trade. Hamonic has picked up seven points (3G / 4A), 30 hits and 55 blocked shots in 24 games this season.

Copp missed Tuesday's game vs. the Golden Knights but will play Friday vs. the Bruins. Copp, who has scored 13 goals with 19 assists (32 points) in 54 games this season, will be back on the third line with Adam Lowry and Evgeny Svechnikov.

The Canadiens will retain 50% of Chiarot's salary for the remainder of the 2021-22 season. Chiarot was in his third season with the Canadiens and has scored seven goals with 11 assists (18 points) in 54 games this season. He's in the final year of a three-year deal with a $3.5M AAV cap-hit and will be a UFA this summer.

Copp was banged up late in Sunday's game in St. Louis and was not on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate. Copp will be a game-time decision and will be replaced by Adam Brooks if he's unable to go.

Chiarot will sit out on Tuesday for precautionary reasons. The Canadiens are expected to trade Chiarot before next Monday's trade deadline, so he'll sit vs. the Coyotes. Joel Edmundson will be back in the lineup to replace Chiarot.
