Detroit Red Wings News

Leonard has been recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL) on emergency conditions.

Leonard was effective in a brief stint with the Red Wings earlier this season, scoring four points (2G / 2A) in nine games, but has spent most of the 2025-26 campaign in the AHL. The 27-year-old forward has an impressive 41 points (27G / 14A) in 34 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) this season.

Dries has been recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL) under emergency conditions.

Dries is no stranger to the NHL, with 26 points (16G / 10A) in 122 career games, but he has exclusively played in the AHL the past three seasons. The undrafted 31-year-old forward has 37 points (20G / 17A) in 48 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) this season.

Larkin (lower-body) is doubtful to play on the remainder of Detroit’s current road trip.

Initially hopeful to be an option on Detroit's four-game road trip, Larkin's return seems to be delayed until at least March 16th, when the team returns home to host the Calgary Flames. Andrew Copp (lower body) also suffered an injury on Tuesday, adding to the Red Wings' current lack of center depth.

Dylan Larkin
Copp (lower-body) left Tuesdays game and is doubtful for Thursday vs. Tampa Bay.

Already without Dylan Larkin (lower body), the Red Wings' depth at center took another hit on Tuesday, with Copp exiting Detroit's 4-3 loss to the Florida Panthers after just 10:01 time-on-ice. The 31-year-old Copp recorded an assist before leaving the game, giving him four points (0G / 4A) in his last five outings. The severity of Copp's injury remains unclear, but he is not expected to play on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Gibson will start in Florida on Tuesday.

Gibson did not finish Sunday's 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils due to an undisclosed ailment, but it appears to have just been precautionary, as he will return to the crease on Tuesday against the Florida Panthers. The 32-year-old Gibson played well on Friday against the Panthers, saving 20 of 22 shots (.909 SV%), but did not receive enough goal support, ultimately losing 3-1. Gibson has a tremendous 1.41 GAA and .944 SV% in his last six appearances (3-2-0). The Red Wings enter Tuesday's contest as slight +108 road underdogs against a Panthers team that will be without leading goal scorer Sam Reinhart (undisclosed).

Tarasov will start vs. Detroit on Tuesday.

The Panthers have been more liberal with their goalie usage in recent weeks and will turn to Tarasov on Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings. The 26-year-old Tarasov has lost both of his starts since returning from the Olympic break (0-2-0), but has been serviceable nonetheless, posting a 2.56 GAA and .923 SV%. The Panthers enter Tuesday's contest as -127 home favourites against a Red Wings team they defeated 3-1 less than a week ago.

Larkin left Friday's game with a leg injury and did not return.

Larkin left Friday's loss to the Panthers after suffering a non-contact injury on a shot attempt. It didn't look good, but head coach Todd McLellan told reporters post-game that he doesn’t think it's long-term. He added that Larkin will undergo further evaluation to determine a timeline for his return.

Detroit has acquired Justin Faulk from St. Louis for Justin Holl, Dmitiri Buchelnikov, a 2026 1st round pick and a 2026 3rd round pick (SJS).

Faulk has had an excellent season for a struggling St. Louis Blues team and will join the Detroit Red Wings as they continue their late-season push to return to the postseason. The 33-year-old averaged 22:30 time-on-ice, recording 32 points, 102 blocks, and 49 hits in 61 games with the Blues this season.

Bryson is expected to arrive in Winnipeg on Friday and is hopeful to make his Jets' debut vs. Saturday vs. Vancouver.

After six seasons in Buffalo, Jacob Bryson is now a member of the Winnipeg Jets alongside Isak Rosen a 2027 2nd Round Pick, and conditional 2026 4th Round Pick for Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn. Bryson is 28-year-old and has never surpassed more than 10 points in an NHL season. Through 35 games played in 2025-26, he has two goals, five points and eight PIMs.

Gibson will start vs. Florida on Friday.

Gibson exited Monday's 4-2 win over the Nashville Predators in the first intermission due to an upper-body injury and did not suit up for Wednesday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights. That said, he was back at practice on Thursday and will likely tend the twine on Friday against the Florida Panthers. The 32-year-old Gibson has only lost six of his last 25 games (19-5-1), posting an impressive 2.06 GAA and .925 SV%, leading the Red Wings to a playoff spot over the past two months. The Red Wings enter Friday's contest as -142 home favourites against a struggling Panthers team that extended their losing streak to four games (0-4-0) with a 4-2 loss last night to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Tarasov will start in Columbus on Thursday.

Sergei Bobrovsky's name has begun circulating in trade rumours as the trade deadline approaches, which, along with his inconsistent play between the pipes, has given Tarasov a start on Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 26-year-old Tarasov was excellent in his only outing since resuming from the Olympic break, saving 36 of 38 shots (.947 SV%), but did not receive enough goal support, falling 3-2 to the Buffalo Sabres. The Panthers enter Thursday's contest as slight -102 road underdogs against a Blue Jackets team that is 9-1-1 in their last 11 games.
