It has been a trouble season for Talbot and the Oilers but they have a solid matchup tonight in Arizona—the 30-year-old stopped 29 of 31 shots in a 3-2 OT win in his first start vs. the Coyotes.

It is becoming increasingly more difficult to trust the 30-year-old netminder, who should probably be avoided tonight in Nashville.


Gibson allowed one goal on 34 shots in the Ducks loss in Edmonton on Thursday. Regardless of the loss, it was another strong outing for Gibson, who has been spectacular as of late. He has won three of five while posting a 1.39 GAA, 949 SV% and one shututout. The 24-year-old is also 1-1-0 with a 1.55 GAA and .942 SV% against Calgary this season.

Talbot allowed one goal on 34 shots in the Oilers win over the Ducks on Thursday. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Talbot, who is now 15-13-2 with a 3.00 GAA and .905 SV% on the season. The 30-year-old has gone 1-1-0 with a 5.00 GAA and .811 SV% in two starts vs. the Stars this season.

Gibson allowed two goals on 25 shots in the Ducks win over the Coyotes on Sunday. Ryan Miller started in Vancouver on Tuesday, so Gibson will be back in tonight in Edmonton. Gibson has chalked up a win in three of his last four starts while posting a 1.52 GAA, .942 SV% and one shutout.

Talbot allowed five goals on 33 shots in the Oilers loss to the Kings. The rollercoaster year for Talbot continues. After winning four in a row, Talbot has lost four straight while allowing a combined 18 goals on 146 shots (.876 SV%). Until Talbot rights the ship, he remains a risky play, especially against an improving Ducks team.

Talbot allowed five goals on 38 shots in the Oilers loss to Winnipeg on Sunday. After a great four-game winning streak, Talbot has now dropped three straight while allowing a combined 13 goals on 113 shots (.885 SV%). Tonight he has a chance to get back in the win column vs. a Kings team that has lost five of eight (3-3-2).

Talbot allowed four goals on 36 shots in a loss to the Blackhawks on Friday. After winning four straight upon returning to the crease, Talbot has lost two in a row while allowing a combined eight goals on (.893 SV%). Overall, he is 4-1-1 with a 2.68 GAA and .917 SV% in six December starts.

Gibson allowed one goal on 23 shots in the Ducks win over the Flames on Friday. Gibson has gone 4-3-3 with a 2.27 GAA and .924 SV% in 10 December starts. Gibson allowed four goals on 30 shots in a 5-4 win over the Coyotes in the first game of the season.
