Varlamov is off to a good start this season with a 2-1 record to go along with a 1.68 GAA and .948 SV%. The Avalanche are a tough team to gauge, but if Varlamov continues to play well he could be a solid fantasy option. He has a tough matchup tonight however facing one of the leagues hottest teams in San Jose.
Schneider will look for redemption tonight after giving up 5 goals on 14 shots in the season opener against the Ducks. It appears as if Schneider remains the unquestioned #1 in Vancouver. For now he has more fantasy value than Luongo.

There has been a lot of drama this offseason surrounding the Canucks goalie situation and when Schneider was pulled in the season opener after allowing 5 goals in just 27 minutes, the drama reached a whole new level. The Canucks obviously aren't goingt to give up on him after just one bad start, but if Schneider wants to keep his job, he needs to perform better.
Varlamov got beat up pretty good in the season opener against the Wild, and the task doesn't get any easier as he faces the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings tonight.
Schneider is expected to be the #1 goalie in Vancouver this season with Luongo either getting traded or backing him up. Schneider needs to get off to a fast start though because Luongo will be breathing down his neck. Start Schneider tonight with confidence.
