Sheary (upper-body) should be back for opening night.

Sheary will miss the rest of the preseason but the Sabres expect their new winger to be ready for the first game of the season vs. the Bruins (Oct. 4). Sheary was projected to play in the Sabres’ top-6, but this injury could lead to him playing in the bottom-6 to start the season. Sheary will need to play with Jack Eichel or Casey Mittelstadt if he’s going to have any fantasy value this season.

Quick will start Game 1 in Vegas.

Quick finished the 2018 season with a SV% above .920 for the first time since 2012 and helped the Kings post the league’s best GAA in the NHL this year. Unsurprisingly, Quick was a much better goalie on home-ice and could struggle in what figures to be a madhouse in Vegas in Game 1. He didn’t face the Golden Knights this season, so this will be his first look at the Pacific Division’s top team.

The Wild recalled Carson Soucy from Iowa (AHL).

Soucy spent the majority of the 2017-18 season in the AHL, where he amassed 15 points (1G / 14A) in 67 games, but he also appeared in three games with Minnesota. With Ryan Suter definitely out to start the playoffs and Jared Spurgeon a big question mark, Soucy has been recalled and is expected to open the playoffs on the Wild’s second pairings.

Quick led the Kings onto the ice for warmups.

Quick allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Kings loss in Anaheim on Friday. Quick has won three of his last five while posting a 1.76 GAA, .936 SV% and one shutout. Quick has been great vs. Colorado this season, going 2-0-0 with a 0.99 GAA and .968 SV% in the first two meetings.
