Vasilevskiy (blood clot) returned to practice on Monday.

Vasilevskiy has missed the first nine games of the season with a blood clot, but returned to practice on Monday. Vasilevskiy will take over as the Lightning’s backup goalie as soon as he is ready to go, but he will likely head to the AHL for conditioning before he fully takes over. Kristen Gudlevskis will serve as Ben Bishop’s backup until Vasilevskiy is 100 percent.

Vasilevskiy (blood clot) is off of blood thinners; expected to practice early next week.

Vasilevskiy had been skating but he will start practicing next week, which is a huge step in his return from a blood clot. He was originally expected to miss 2-3 months. If he returns at the front-end of that timetable, he would be back in the second week of November.

Hedman (upper-body) is on the ice for Monday's practice.

Hedman missed Saturday’s game with an upper-body injury, believed to be a head injury. However, Hedman was back at practice this morning in a regular jersey and skated in his normal spot on the top-pair. It appears as if Hedman will be back in the lineup on Tuesday vs. Nashville.

Hedman (upper-body) will not play on Saturday vs. Buffalo.

Hedman suffered an injury on Friday and it will keep him out of the Lightning lineup tonight vs. Buffalo. He went through concussion protocol following the hit that injured him, so he could be dealing with concussion symptoms, but he is not expected to miss an extended period of time. With Hedman out, Slater Koekkek has been recalled and will make his season debut.

Perry and Getzlaf may be reunited on Monday vs. Vancouver.

Perry and Getzlaf were split up to start their season opener but were reunited midway through the third period. The Ducks were shutout in their opener which is another reason that coach Bruce Boudreau will likely put the duo back together. Perry had one shot on goal and a minus-1 rating in 16:03 TOI on Saturday.

On Monday, Vasilevskiy (blood clot) skated for the first time since vascular surgery.

Vasilevskiy underwent vascular surgery to remove a blood clot near his collarbone on September 3rd, but returned to the ice this afternoon. Vasilevskiy is expected to miss 2-3 months from the date of his surgery, which would put him on target to return in early-November at the earliest. Ray Emery was brought in on a professional tryout to potentially serve as Ben Bishop’s backup while Vasilevskiy is on the shelf.

Vasilevskiy will miss 2-3 months after having surgery last Thursday to remove a blood clot from near his left collarbone.

Vasilevskiy appeared poised to push Ben Bishop for starts right out of the gate, but he will now miss at least the first month of the season. For fantasy owners drafting Bishop, it would be wise to invest in the 21-year-old Vasilevskiy--especially now considering his draft-day value will be much lower.

Vasilevskiy leads the Lightning onto the ice for warmups.

Vasilevskiy is scheduled to get one start per week and with the Lightning on the tail-end of a back-to-back, he is expected to get the nod tonight vs. Toronto. Vasilevskiy made 33 saves in a 4-3 win over Florida in his last start. Vasilevskiy is an excellent option tonight against a Maple Leafs team who have lost seven of eight.

Hedman officially listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Hedman was listed as questionable after suffering a lower-body injury last night, but has now been officially given a “day-to-day” tag, which suggests that he will not play tonight vs. the Maple Leafs. Slater Koekkoek has been recalled from Syracuse (AHL) and is expected to make his NHL debut.

Hedman is questionable for Tuesday’s game with an undisclosed injury.

Hedman left yesterday’s game with an undisclosed injury and did not return. The injury could keep him out of Tuesday’s game in Toronto and would be a massive blow to the Lightning’s blue line, who recently lost Jason Garrison and Andrej Sustr.
