Toews is now the fifth player and eighth member of the Blackhawks' organization to land in COVID-19 protocol. Toews can test out of protocol before Wednesday's game, but consider him questionable vs. the Maple Leafs.

Scheifele remains in COVID-19 protocol and will miss his second straight game. Paul Stastny and Pierre-Luc Dubois will continue to operate as the team's top-2 centres while Scheifele is out.

A few days after it was announced that Blake Wheeler tested positive for COVID-19, Scheiefle enters COVID-19 protocol. This will leave the Jets without two-thirds of their top-line when they take on the Ducks on Thursday. Look for Pierre-Luc Dubois and Paul Stastny to play increased roles with Scheifele out.

Perfetti failed to record a point in his first two NHL games and gets reassigned to AHL where he can play top-6 minutes. Perfetti had nine goals and 17 assists (26 points) in 32 AHL games last year.

Barron has had a nice start to the 2021-22 season, scoring two goals in his first two AHL games. The 22-year-old has one goal in five career NHL games and will take Kaapo Kakko's (upper-body) spot on the roster.

Perfetti was the No.10 overall pick in 2020 and spent the 2021 season in Manitoba (AHL), where he had nine goals and 17 assists (26 points) in 32 games. In his debut, he will skate on the third line with Adam Lowry and Jansen Harkins.

Scheifele will serve the final game of his suspension that was handed down by the NHL during the postseason for his hit on Jake Evans. With Scheifele out for the season opener, Paul Stastny is expected to centre the Jets' top line and Pierre-Luc Dubois should see time on PP1.
