Vanecek stopped all five of five Bruins' shots as he was perfect in relief of Mackenzie Blackwood against Boston in his last time between the pipes. The 26-year-old has played well in his first season in New Jersey, with his 12-4-2 record, 2.41 GAA and .909 SV%. He will get a full game shot at Boston Wednesday, who holds the NHL's best record and snapped a four-game winning streak with a 3-2 shootout loss in the first game of back-to-backs Tuesday to these Devils.


Nosek will take a maintenance day Wednesday as it was reported that he would miss the game but it is nothing serious. Nosek has three goals, four assists, 34 SOG and 34 PIMs in 34 games this season.


DeSmith stopped 26 of 29 shots (.897 SV%) as he picked up a loss in his last start vs. Carolina. The Penguins' backup has been solid this season, with his 4-6-1 record, 2.83 GAA and .914 SV%. He will face the Detroit Red Wings, who had their previous game postponed due to weather and are 28th in the NHL in shots per game (29.2).

Gilbert has not played since Dec. 18th due to an undisclosed injury but has been activated off the injured reserve Wednesday. The 26-year-old has one assist and 20 PIMs with five SOG through eight games this season prior to the injury.

Murray stopped 18 of 19 shots (.947 SV%) for his third win in four starts as he beat Tampa Bay his last time out. The 28-year-old has had a resurgence in his first season in Toronto, with his 8-2-2 record, 2.34 GAA and .925 SV%. He will face the Arizona Coyotes, who have won their last two games but are 26th in the NHL in goals per game (2.79).

Kahkonen allowed five goals on 25 shots (800 SV%) for his third straight loss as he took was defeated by Calgary in his last start. The Sharks' backup has been one of the league's worst goaltenders this season, with his 3-7-2 record, .872 SV% and 3.83 GAA. He takes on the Minnesota Wild, who have won seven of their last eight games after a 4-1 win over Winnipeg in their last game.

Francouz is 4-5-0 with a 2.80 GAA and .913 SV% but is considered day-to-day and will miss the Avalanches' game Tuesday as he deals with a lower-body injury. Jonas Johansson was recalled from the Colorado Eagles (AHL) to replace Francouz for the time being.

Hutton was a healthy scratch for Vegas' last two games but will draw back into the lineup Wednesday as they take on the Ducks. The 29-year-old has one assist, 13 SOG and a -5 plus/minus through nine games so far this season.

Martinez left the Golden Knights' previous game after just 6:20 TOI due to a lower-body injury and will not play Wednesday vs. Anaheim. The 35-year-old has five assists, 33 SOG, 14 PIMs and a +6 plus/minus through 37 games prior to the injury.

Hill allowed three goals on 18 shots (.833 SV%) as he snapped a three-game winning streak with a loss to Buffalo in his last start. The Golden Knights' backup has been solid this season but struggled as of late, yet still has an 8-3-1 record, .903 SV% and 2.66. GAA. He draws the Anaheim Ducks, who are losers of three straight and are 31st in the NHL in goals per game (2.31).

Eriksson Ek did not receive any playing time with the Ducks so he will have to wait for his NHL debut as he heads back to the San Diego Gulls (AHL) Wednesday. In seven games with San Diego prior to his promotion, he was 0-5-0 with a .844 SV% and 4.94 GAA.

Rielly has not played since Nov. 21st due to a knee injury but is expected to return to the Maple Leafs' lineup Thursday as they take on Arizona. Reilly was playing incredibly before his injury, with 16 assists, 34 SOG and a -1 plus/minus in 20 games played.

Sustr has a goal, five assists, 25 PIMS and is a +3 plus/minus in 20 games with Iowa (AHL) prior to his call-up Tuesday. Sustr did not make it into Minnesota's lineup for his one-day call-up but will be looking to add to his 69 points (11G/58A) across 361 career NHL games he had picked up in his previous nine seasons in the NHL the next time he is brought up to the big club.

Grubauer stopped 15 of 17 shots (.882 SV%) to snap a four-game losing streak as he beat the Winnipeg Jets in his last start. The 31-year-old has struggled yet again this season after a horrendous 2021-22, with his current 3-5-1 record, 3.30 GAA and .882 SV%. He will take on Calgary, who is coming off a 2-1 loss Tuesday to Edmonton and is fifth in the NHL in shots on goal per game (34.7).

Marchessault missed the Golden Knights' game Tuesday due to a lower-body injury and will be a game-time decision Thursday as they take on the Anaheim Ducks. Not having Marchessault in the lineup has been a massive blow, as he has 14 goals, 13 assists, 121 SOG, and nine PIMs through 35 games prior to the injury.

Gibson's last game was Dec. 13th where he received the loss after being forced to leave after just 30:48 and stopping 25 of 27 shots (.926 SV%) due to injury. The 29-year-old has been having by far the worst season of his 10-year career, with his 5-14-3 record, .896 SV% and 3.99 GAA. He will face the Vegas Golden Knights, who are 11th in the NHL in goals per game (3.27) and ninth in shots per game (32.5).
