The Red Wings placed Carter Rowney and Givani Smith in COVID-19 protocol, so Barber could make his Red Wings debut on Saturday. The 27-year-old forward has 16 points (7G / 9A) in 21 AHL games this season.

Alex Nedeljkovic was added to COVID-19 protocol so Pickard is expected to serve as Thomas Greiss' backup on Saturday. Pickard has gone 9-7-2 with a 2.47 GAA and .926 SV% in 19 AHL games this season.
Subban has been placed on the COVID-19 protocol list.
Subban was scratched from Thursday's game for precautionary reasons and it looks like that was the right decision. Subban has tested positive and is in COVID-19 protocol.
Blackwood is day-to-day with a neck injury.
Blackwood will miss Saturday's game in Detroit with a neck injury and is listed as day-to-day. The Devils recently acquired Jon Gillies from the Blues and could make his Devils debut.

The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
