Lehner allowed one goal on 34 shots in the Blackhawks shootout loss to the Golden Knights on Tuesday. Lehner has been spectacular in a Blackhawks uniform, stopping 100 of the first 106 shots (.943 SV%) he has faced through three games. The Flyers beat the Blackhawks in the season opener overseas but it's hard not to trust Lehner to turn in a good performance right now.
Kuemper allowed two goals on 19 shots in the Coyotes overtime win in New York on Tuesday. Kuemper continues to play outstanding hockey and has now won four in a row while posting a 1.75 GAA and .943 SV%. He is a must-start while he is playing well and draws a great matchup vs. an Islanders team that is averaging just 2.50 goals per game (24th in the NHL).
Jones allowed four goals on 29 shots in the Sharks loss in Buffalo on Tuesday. Aaron Dell got the nod lsat night in Montreal so Jones will start Game 2 of their eastern Canada back-to-back tonight in Toronto. He is 0-2-1 with a 3.97 GAA and 864 SV% on the road this season so it’s hard to trust him against a Maple Leafs team that is still averaging 3.00 goals per game without John Tavares.
Dell allowed four goals on 30 shots in the Sharks win in Chicago on October 10th. Martin Jones has started the last four games but the Sharks will go with Dell on the front-end of their eastern Canadian back-to-back. Dell has surrendered eight goals on 69 shots (.884 SV%) in his two starts and one relief appearance in 2019-20.
Varlamov stopped 32 of 33 shots in the Islanders win in Winnipeg last Thursday. Varlamov and Thomas Greiss have alternated starts this season and tonight is Varlamov's turn in the rotation. He has won two straight while stopping 67 of the last 70 shots (.957 SV%) that he has faced. Tonight he faces a Coyotes team that has won four straight while averaging an impressive 4.25 goals per game.
Harrington has been scratched since the season opener but will replace Markus Nutivaara (lower-body) in the lineup vs. Carolina. The 26-year-old blueliner has just 26 points (5G / 21A) in 153 career NHL games.
Nutivaara will come out of the lineup against the Hurricanes with Scott Harrington drawing back in to take his place. Nutivaara, who has two goals on 14 shots in eight games this season, is day-to-day.
Korpisalo allowed three goals on 31 shots in the Blue Jackets win in Toronto on Monday. Korpisalo has played very well as of late, winning three of his last four (3-0-1) while posting. a 2.47 GAA and .922 SV%. Tonight he faces the Hurricanes, who have lost three of their last four while averaging just 2.00 goals per game.
Lundqvist gave up three goals on 43 shots in the Rangers loss to the Canucks on Sunday. Lundqvist has given up at least three goals in every outing and comes into Thursday having lost three in a row while posting a 3.43 GAA and .902 SV%. Things likely won't get any better on Thursday as he gets set to face a Sabres team that has won six of their last seven while averaging 3.43 goals per game.
This is Gilbert's second call-up of the season and this time he could stick around for a while. Connor Murphy was moved to LTIR on Wednesday, so Gilbert could become a main-stay in the Blackhawks lineup moving forward. He will have to battle Slater Koekkoek for that right and comes up with no points in three AHL games.
Murphy suffered a groin injury in Tuesday's shootout loss to the Golden Knights and his move to LTIR provides the Blackhawks with some cap relief but also means he'll miss at least 11 games. Dennis Gilbert was recalled from Rockford (AHL) and either he or Slater Koekkoek will replace Murphy. This also helps explain the trade for Ian McCoshen on Tuesday as the team looked to address organizational depth on the back-end.
Greenway was forced to leave Tuesday's win over the Oilers with an upper-body injury and did not return. It was a tough break for the young power forward, who had two assists in just 4:54 TOI before departing for the dressing room. Greenway has now collected five assists in his last five games.
Price allowed two goals on 34 shots in the Canadiens win in St. Louis last Saturday. Keith Kinkaid started on Sunday, so Price comes into Thursday's game very well-rested. Price has won three of his last four starts (3-1-0) while posting a 2.02 GAA, .922 SV% and one shutout. San Jose comes into Thursday's game at 3-5-1 and still ranks in the bottom third of the NHL in goal-scoring (2.67 GF/gm).
Bernier allowed two goals on 37 shots in the Red Wings loss in Edmonton last Friday. Bernier opened the season with two wins but has lost two in a row since then. Overall, he has a 3.02 GAA and .905 SV% but has played very well at times and makes for an interesting spot-start option in Ottawa for owners who are desperate for goaltending help.
Jarry allowed just one goal on 22 shots in the Penguins loss to Vegas on Saturday. Jarry was great but Marc-Andre Fleury was sensational at the other end of the ice and dealt Jarry his first loss of the season. Jarry has allowed just three goals on 51 shots (.941 SV%) in two starts this year but has a rough matchup in Tampa Bay with his team on a back-to-back.
Bowey was a healthy scratch last night vs. The Canucks but will replace Danny DeKeyser (undisclosed) in the lineup in Ottawa. Bowey has just one assist in four games this season.
DeKeyser recently returned to the Red Wings lineup but is injured again after playing just three games. Madison Bowey will draw back into the lineup for DeKeyser, who is back in Detroit undergoing further evaluation.
Head coach Jared Bednar said he doesn't feel like it will be a "4-to-6 week" injury and expects him back sooner than that. The Avalanche have officially placed the "week-to-week" tag on him, so expect him to miss at least a couple of weeks. He will be re-evaluated after that and then you can expect another update from Colorado.
Comeau has been sidelined since the season opener and will miss at least 10 more days with a lower-body ailment. Denis Gurianov is playing well on the Stars fourth line so they don't need to rush Comeau out.
Bjork made his season debut vs. the Maple Leafs on Tuesday but gets sent back to the AHL because the Bruins are off until Saturday. How the injured Bruins recover over the next few days will determine whether or not Bjork will return for the weekend.
