Turris (illness) was back on the ice on Wednesday; expected to play on Thursday.

Turris has missed the last three games with viral infection, but returned to practice on Wednesday and thinks he will be able to play vs. Detroit tomorrow. Turris has recorded three goals and five assists (eight points) in nine games this season.

Crawford will start Wednesday vs. the Flyers.

Crawford allowed one goal on eight shots after replacing Anton Forsberg in the Blackhawks loss in Colorado on Saturday. Crawford finished October at 5-4-0 with a 2.12 GAA and .935 SV% and comes into Wednesday’s game against the Flyers at 3-2-0 with a 1.60 GAA and .951 SV% at the United Center.

The Bruins have recalled Jordan Szwarz from Providence (AHL).

Szwarz has recorded five goals and three assists (eight points) in six games with Providence this season. The 26-year-old has recorded just four goals in 35 career NHL games with the Coyotes. Szwarz joins the team after the Bruins announced that David Backes will miss two months.

The Sabres have recalled Nicholas Baptiste from Rochester (AHL).

This is Baptiste’s first call-up of the season and he earned it by collecting three goals and two assists (five points) in eight games with the Americans. The 22-year-old has three goals and one assist in 14 career NHL games.

Backes will undergo surgery to remove a portion of his colon; expected to miss eight weeks.

Backes missed the start of the season due to diverticulitis and it will now force him to undergo surgery to remove part of his colon. This is a terrible break for Backes, who will be out until late-December/early-January, but is critical for his long-term health.

David Backes
Hunwick (concussion) is skating and could join the Penguins on their road-trip.

The Penguins are in the middle of a five-game road trip and head coach Mike Sullivan said that Hunwick is skating back in Pittsburgh and they haven’t ruled out that he could join the team in Western Canada. With Hunwick and Justin Schultz out, Chad Ruhwedel and Zach Trotman will remain in the lineup.

Matt Hunwick
Schultz (concussion) is skating and could join the Penguins on their road-trip.

Ekholm left Tuesday’s practice early because of an apparent upper-body injury; questionable for Wednesday’s game in San Jose.

Ekholm is coming off of a two-assist performance vs. the Islanders on Saturday, but left yesterday’s practice with an apparent upper-body/rib injury. There was no word on how serious the injury is and if he will even miss any time, but monitor his status during Wednesday’s morning skate.

Mattias Ekholm
Lagace will start Tuesday in New York.

Lagace entered Monday’s game in Brooklyn after Oscar Dansk suffered a lower-body injury and struggled, allowing four goals on 11 shots. With Dansk hurt, Gerard Gallant said “next man up” so Lagace is expected to go head-to-head with Henrik Lundqvist in his first career start. The Rangers come in at 3-7-2 while averaging 2.83 goals for per game.

Maxime Lagace
Theodore will make his Golden Knights debut on Tuesday.

After opening the season in the AHL, the Golden Knights finally cleared the way for Theodore to come up on Monday. He sat as a healthy scratch on vs. the Islanders, but will make his debut tonight in New York. The 22-year-old, former first round pick (No.26 overall) is expected to skate with Colin Miller and comes up after recording 11 points (5G / 6A) in eight AHL contests.

Shea Theodore
The Ducks have recalled Kalle Kossila from San Diego (AHL).

Kossila, 24, was recalled earlier this season, recording one goal and one assist in two games with the Ducks. With Ryan Getzlaf (face) back on IR, Kossila is back up and expected to play on Wednesday. The Finnish forward has also registered six points (2G / 4A) in five AHL games.

Kalle Kossila
The Ducks have placed Ryan Getzlaf (face) on IR.

Getzlaf has had a tough time with injuries this season, landing on IR for the third time this month. Getzlaf is dealing with a face injury after being hit by a puck in Sunday’s win in Carolina. As a result, Getzlaf will miss at least the next three games.

Ryan Getzlaf
The Golden Knights have placed Oscar Dansk (lower-body) on IR.

This is an unfortunate injury for both Dansk and the Golden Knights. Dansk had been playing brilliantly, stopping 88 of the 93 shots (.946 SV%) that he faced before getting hurt. Dansk joins Marc-Andre Fleury and Malcolm Subban on IR, leaving Maxime Lagace and Dylan Ferguson as their goaltending duo for the foreseeable future.

Oscar Dansk
The Golden Knights have recalled Dylan Ferguson from Kamloops (WHL).

The Golden Knights have lost the first three goalies on their depth chart to injury, so Ferguson will make the jump from the WHL to the NHL where he will serve as Maxime Lagace’s backup at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. Ferguson has gone 4-9-0 with a 4.05 GAA and .878 SV% in 13 games with Kamloops so far this season.

Dylan Ferguson
Patrick (upper-body) will not travel on the Flyers two-game road trip.

Patrick has been sidelined since October 26th, missing the last three games and will miss at least the next two contests with an upper-body injury. The rookie could be set to return to the lineup when the Flyers return home for Saturday’s meeting with the Avalanche.
