Ferland, who missed Saturday’s game in Vancouver, also missed today’s practice. Glen Gulutzan said that he hopes Ferland can be back on the ice tomorrow, but his status for Thursday’s game vs. the Hurricanes is in question.
Steen was cleared to return to practice on Monday after missing the first six games of the regular season with a broken left hand. Blues head coach Mike Yeo would not commit to Steen playing on Wednesday, but it’s a positive sign that he is close to make his season debut.
Malone has recorded three points (2G / 1A) in three games with Bakersfield and could make his Oilers debut on Tuesday. Malone has been recalled because Leon Draisaitl (concussion) is on IR and Drake Caggiula (undisclosed) is also sidelined.
Lowry missed Saturday’s game vs. the Hurricanes with an upper-body injury and will miss his second straight game on Tuesday. With Lowry sidelined, Joel Armia will remain in the lineup.
Kulikov is expected to miss two weeks, which will likely cost him about five games. The 26-year-old blueliner has picked up three points (1G / 2A) in five games this season but will not be replaced by Tucker Poolman for the next few weeks.
The Wild were hopeful that Parise would make his season debut during their back-to-back on Friday/Saturday, but after lasting just 25 minutes in today’s practice, that seems unlikely now. There’s no word how serious the setback is, but consider him questionable for this week.
Bonino departed Saturday’s game early, playing just 9:50 TOI, and missed Monday’s practice as well. The missed session puts a serious black cloud over Bonino’s status for Tuesday’s game. With Bonino out, Kevin Fiala centred the Predators second line in today’s practice.
Howard allowed two goals on 35 shots in the Red Wings’ win in Arizona last Thursday. Despite a red-hot start, Petr Mrazek started two of three games last week, so Howard is expected to get the call tonight vs. Tampa Bay. Howard is 3-0-0 and ranks second in the NHL in SV% (.955) and fifth in GAA (1.62) so far.
Mason gave up six goals n 45 shots in the Jets’ 6-3 loss in Calgary on October 7th. Connor Hellebuyck started the last three games, but they’ll go with Mason against the Blue Jackets tonight. Mason has been terrible in his first two starts with the Jets, giving up 11 goals on 65 shots (.831 SV%).
Schneider surrendered five goals on 28 shots in the Devils’ loss to Washington last Friday. The defeat snapped Schneider’s three-game winning streak to start the season and he now carries a 2.75 GAA and .924 SV% through four starts. Tonight he will face a Lightning team that has started the season at 5-1-0 while averaging 3.83 goals for per game.
Schmaltz missed the Blackhawks last four games with an upper-body injury, but it looks like he might return Wednesday vs. the Blues. Schmaltz had two goals and one assist in the season opener before getting hurt in his first shift of game No.2. The 2014 second-round pick was back on a line with Patrick Kane at Monday’s practice.
Schwartz was held off of the ice on Monday because of a bout of food poisoning. Lucky for Schwartz owners, the Blues are off until Wednesday so there’s a chance that he won’t miss any games. Monitor his status before Wednesday’s contest.
Granlund has missed the last three games with a groin injury that he was dealing with in training camp. Granlund returned to the ice on the weekend and had a “good skate” this morning, which suggests he might not be far from returning to the lineup. The Wild are off until Friday, so monitor his status as the week progresses.

Point missed the Lightning’s morning skate and is listed as a game-time decision because of an illness. Despite missing the skate it seems likely that Point will play. The 21-year-old will look to continue his hot start, having recorded three goals and five assists (eight points) in five games. However, don’t expect Point to continue shooting at 33.3 percent.
Vasilevskiy stopped 28 of 29 shots in the Lightning’s win over the Blues on Saturday. Vasilevskiy has won three straight starts while allowing eight goals on 95 shots (.916 SV%). Vasilevskiy will start his sixth consecutive game and comes into tonight tied for the NHL-lead in wins (4)—Vasilevskiy is 3-0-0 in his career vs. Detroit.
