Rinne (hip infection) has been cleared to do supervised weight-bearing exercises.

This is the next step in Rinne's recovery from a bacterial infection in his hip. There is still no timetable for his return, but every step in the right direction is a positive for the Predators.

Pekka Rinne
Dubnyk gets the call in goal vs. the Penguins.

Dubnyk surrendered five goals on 36 shots in a loss to the Sharks on January 2. It was a pretty ugly way to follow-up his second shutout of the season. He has fallen behind Ilya Bryzgalov as the Oilers starter and enters play tonight 10-16-2 with a 3.31 GAA and .895 SV%. He has a terrible matchup tonight vs. the red-hot Penguins.

Devan Dubnyk
Varlamov will start in goal for the Avalanche.

Varlamov allowed three goals on 32 in a win over the Senators on Wednesday. Varly has now won each of his last four starts while allowing 10 goals and posting a .925 SV%. He will make his 22nd home start tonight vs. the Islanders, he is 14-5-2 with a 2.27 GAA and .929 SV% in previous 21 starts at the Pepsi Center.

Semyon Varlamov
Byfuglien will play forward against the Blue Jackets on Saturday.

The Jets have been struggling lately, they have lost four straight games and now sit at 19-22-5. They have moved Byfuglien onto the first line with Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd, while Blake Wheeler has been bumped to the third line. Byfuglien played forward during his days in Chicago and at 6-foot-5, 265 lbs. he makes one big power-forward. He has tallied 34 points (10G / 24A) in 46 games this season.

Dustin Byfuglien
Lindback starts on Saturday.

Lindback allowed four goals on 20 shots in a loss to the Capitals on Thursday. He is now 1-1-0 with a 3.47 GAA and .831 SV% since Ben Bishop went down with an injury. On Saturday, he will face the Flyers for the second time this season. In the first meeting he stopped 19 of 21 shots in a 4-2 win.

Anders Lindback
Burrows (jaw) will not play until after January 16th says Canucks GM Mike Gillis.

Burrows has been skating lately, but will be held out of at least the next four games. The Canucks first game after the 16th is on Saturday, January 18th vs. the Flames - that should be considered Burrows' target date. He has not played since December 1 because of a broken jaw and is worth a pickup next week, because he will likely slide onto the first line next to the Sedin twins when he returns.

Alexandre Burrows
Schneider starts for the Devils on Saturday.

Schneider stopped all 26 shots that he faced in a 1-0 win over the Stars on Thursday night. After a handful of ugly starts towards the end of December, Schneider is now 2-1-0 with a 1.01 GAA and .962 SV% in his last three starts. He has a good matchup on Saturday, at home against the Panthers and their 28th ranked offence (2.23 G/PG)

Cory Schneider
Lehtonen is not taking part in the Stars optional skate, suggesting he may start tonight in New York.

Lehtonen was excellent on Thursday stopping 33 of 34 shots, but was bested by Cory Schneider's 26-save shutout in the 1-0 loss. Tonight he would face the Rangers and their 24th ranked offence (2.40 G/PG).

Kari Lehtonen
Lundqvist starts for the Rangers.

Lundqvist allowed two goals on 37 shots in a win over the Blackhawks on Wednesday. It was a big win over a good team for Lundqvist, who is now 13-16-3 with a 2.76 GAA and .907 SV% this season. He will face the Stars tonight he beat 3-2 on November 21.

Henrik Lundqvist
The Predators have reassigned Filip Forsberg to Milwaukee (AHL).

Forsberg was named MVP, Best Forward and a media all-star at the 2014 World Junior Championships, helping the host nation to a silver medal, his third time placing at the tournament. He has posted five points (1G / 4A) in 12 games with Nashville, and eight points (3G / 5A) in seven games with Milwaukee (AHL).

Filip Forsberg

In six games with the Flyers this season, McGinn has averaged 12:40 TOI and netted three goals. With Adirondack, the 23-year-old has 12 points (6G / 6A) in 28 games. He is eligible to play Saturday, but it remains to be seen if he will crack the lineup.

Tye McGinn
Rinaldo has been placed on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain.

Rinaldo is expected to miss a month and a half with the ankle injury that he suffered on Wednesday. The McGinn has been recalled to take his spot on the roster. Expect Rinaldo back after the Olympic break.

Zac Rinaldo
Bernier starts for the Maple Leafs.

Head coach Randy Carlyle said the goalies would split the back-to-back unless James Reimer posted a shutout on Thursday, well he allowed six goals in a 6-1 loss to the Hurricanes, so Bernier goes today. Bernier was not much better in his last start allowing a couple of ugly goals, four total on 24 shots in a loss to the Islanders on Tuesday. He faces a Caps team who just snapped a four game losing streak last night.
