NHL Hockey Player News

Morris (lower-body) is expected to play on Thursday.

Morris has missed the last five games, but skated with the team this morning suggesting that he is good-to-go for Thursday. Phoenix is dealing with multiple injuries on defines so the return of Morris would certainly help stabilize their blueline.

Thomas will make his first start vs. Vancouver since Game 7 of 2011 Cup Finals.

Thomas allowed one goal on 33 shots in a win over the Avalanche on Saturday. It was Thomas' fourth win of the season and 200th of his NHL career. He will likely be in the cage tonight as he looks for win 201 against the Canucks.

As expected, Ben Bishop gets the start tonight.

Bishop gave up three goals on 14 shots before departing the game after 21:45. Bishop took a shot off of the mask and there were worries about his collarbone, but he shot down any injury reports by saying he was fine in a post-game interview. He gets the nod vs. the Kings as he looks to continue his stellar November (6-0-0 / 1.69 GAA / .944 SV%).

Ben Bishop
Adrian Aucoin has officially retired from the NHL.

Aucoin was drafted 117th overall in 1992 by the Vancouver Canucks. He played 1108 games over 18 NHL seasons with the Canucks, Lightning, Islanders, Blackhawks, Flames, Coyotes and Blue Jackets. He registered 121 career goals and 278 assists (399 points). He was a one-time All-Star (2004) and an Olympic Silver Medalist in 1994 with Team Canada.

Luongo starts.

Luongo allowed two goals on 23 shots in a loss to the Stars on Sunday. It was his third straight loss and fourth in his last five games. The losses have not been his fault, he has allowed two goals in four of those five games, but Vancouver can not generate enough offence. He has a good shot at a W tonight with the Panthers in town.

Roberto Luongo
Leading scorer Matt Duchene (oblique) might only miss two games with an oblique injury, and possibly play Saturday at the Los Angeles Kings.

Duchene was ruled out for at least a week on Monday, but will join the Avs on a two-game trip that begins Thursday at Phoenix and likely practice with the team. Patrick Roy noted that it's "November" with a long season ahead and the team won't rush Duchene back, so the center might not return until next week against the visiting St. Louis Blues. But his recovery has been encouraging.

Matt Duchene
Crawford starts for the Blackhawks.

Crawford allowed one goal on 24 shots in a win over the Sharks on Sunday. It was a strong game for Crawford who had allowed 13 goals in his previous three starts (2 wins). He has been great winning nine of his last 10 starts with a 2.64 GAA and .902 SV%.

Corey Crawford
Booth will be a healthy scratch tonight.

Booth will sit while Dale Wiese reenters the lineup after missing the last 10 games with a leg injury. Booth failed to record a point in either of his first two games since returning from a lower-body injury.

David Booth
Green (lower-body contusion) will be a game-time decision on Wednesday.

Green skated at the beginning of Capitals practice this morning, so there is a good chance that he plays tomorrow vs. Pittsburgh. Green has 11 assists in 19 games but has missed the last two games.

Mike Green
Crawford appears to get the start for the Hawks.

Scrivens in net for the Kings.

Scrivnes has been dominant since taking over the starting gig for the injured Jonathan Quick. Scrivens has posted back-to-back shutouts and won three in a row. In those three wins he has a 0.66 GAA and .977 SV% and will look to make it four straight vs. a stingy Lightning squad.

Ben Scrivens
Hossa (lower-body) is on the ice for the Blackhawks morning skate.

Hossa has missed the last two contests, but appears to be in line to return to the lineup tonight at Colorado. The veteran winger has had a strong start to the season potting nine goals and 15 points in 19 games. On a strong offensive Blackhawks team he has posted a plus-12 rating, which is tied for fifth in the NHL. We will wait for official word from the Blackhawks on Hossa's status.
