Suspension
No date set for Lubomir Visnovsky to report to Islanders yet, but his agent confirms that Visnovsky is coming to Long Island.
Visnovsky may not have been drafted in a lot of fantasy leagues, so if he does return it may be useful to pick him up. Wait to find out how long it will be before he returns before jumping to the waiver wire.
Mikael Samuelsson (groin) probably won’t be available for Saturday’s season-opener in St. Louis
Samuelsson was hampered by multiple injuries last season but when he's healthy he is an alright fantasy option in deep leagues. He should post a solid +/- with the Red Wings to go along with a potential for double-digit goals and even 15 assists.
Helm (back) probably won’t be available for Saturday’s season-opening tilt in St. Louis.
The speedy defensive forward Helm isn't a great fantasy option when healthy.
The Winnipeg Jets have agreed to terms with forward Jason Jaffray on a new contract.

Injury
Green is on the ice today for practice after missing the scrimmage yesterday
Doesn't seem to be serious. Green comes into this season looking to get back on track. If he stays healthy look for a bounce back season from Mike Green.
JVR is not dressed for Maple Leafs scrimmage (Foot injury)
This is not how JVR wanted to start his career as a Leaf. There is no timetable for his return from the bruised foot. JVR could be in for a career season in Toronto if he can stay healthy.
Injury
Tomas Plekanec at practice for the first time since his rib injury.
Plekanec could potentially be the Canadiens first-line center, if he wins that job it will increase his fantasy value. He could reach 30 points this season which could be a decent late round addition or waiver pickup.
Retirement
Sean O'Donnell retires after 17 seasons in the NHL with 9 different teams.

Hemsky-Gagner-Yakupov
Hemsky as been impressed with Yakupov and have shown good early chemistry. The Oilers second line has to score for the Oilers to be successful, the early chemistry could help this trio to a hot start.
Jake Gardiner skates for second straight day.
Gardiner is still not skating with his teammates but this is a positive sign that he is on his way back for people who have drafted him.
Jarome Iginla is expected to skate Wednesday with the team.
Iginla is expected to be ready for the start of the season. Monitor his status as Sunday approaches. If healthy he should be in your fantasy lineup.

Line Change
Sergei Bobrovsky and Steve Mason battle for #1 goalie spot in Columbus.
Neither goalie is a great fantasy option because Columbus doesn't figure to be very competitive this season. However Bobrovsky had one of the KHL's best G.A.A. during the lockout. So keep an eye on his numbers.
Injury
David Booth will be out 4-6 weeks with a strained groin.
Missing 4-6 weeks really hurts Booth's fantasy value considering the fantasy season is so short. He'll likely be out for almost half of the fantasy season.
Line Change
Bylsma says both Tangradi and Bennett are likely to get time with Malkin and Neal during the scrimmage Wednesday.
Tangradi played with Malkin and Neal on Monday, while Bennett played with them today. Keep an eye on this line, whoever plays with Malkin and Neal receives a boost in fantasy value.
Antti Miettinen is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury.
Miettinen is irrelevant in fantasy until he proves otherwise.

The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
