Petr Mrazek will start Friday against the Red Wings

Mrazek stopped 24 of 26 shots (.923 SV%) for his first victory of the season in a 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks his last time out. It has been up and down in two starts for Mrazek, as he holds a .885 SV% and 3.50 GAA through the opening part of the season. The Blackhawks will host the Red Wings Friday who is still yet to lose in regulation after three games (2-0-1) and are averaging 4.0 GF/GP early on.

Aube-Kubel looks like he will be the odd man out for the Maple Leafs Saturday as they take on the Winnipeg Jets. After signing from the Colorado Avalanche in the offseason, NAK has struggled in his first five games in Toronto, only collecting one shot while averaging 9:00 TOI on the Leafs' fourth line.

Wayne Simmonds will make his season debut for the Leafs Saturday

Wayne Simmonds will see his first NHL action of the 2022-23 season Saturday as the Maple Leafs head to Winnipeg to take on the Jets. After being waived early in the season, Simmonds is expected to slot into a fourth-line role for the struggle Maple Leafs. Simmonds became a member of the 1000 games club last season and currently sits on 1019 games played. Throughout his 14-year career, he has 263 goals, and 524 points to go along with 2121 PIMs.

Andrei Vasilevskiy was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate

Vasilevskiy lost his second start in three games Tuesday as he stopped 21 of 24 shots (.875 SV%) in a losing effort to the Philadelphia Flyers. He has enjoyed a decent start to his 2022-23 season, as he has a .925 SV% and 2.73 albeit a surprising losing record (1-2-0). His Tampa Bay Lightning will head cross-state to Florida to take on a Panthers team who is coming off a 4-3 win over the same Flyers team that just beat Tampa.

Montour (upper-body) will return to the Panthers lineup on Friday.

Montour missed the last two games but will play Friday vs. the Lightning. With Aaron Ekblad out, Montour figures to be the PP1 quarterback for the Panthers moving forward. He may also play massive minutes at 5v5 next to Gustav Forsling. He had one goal and four shots in two games to open the season.

Bobrovsky will start Friday vs. the Lightning.

Bobrovsky stopped 29 of 33 shots in a 4-3 victory over the Philadephia Flyers Wednesday. The 13-year-veteran has enjoyed a solid start to the season as his .919 SV% and 2.75 GAA have allowed him to take the majority of the Panthers' starts early on. Florida will host the Tampa Bay Lightning who have struggled to a 1-3-0 early on, ranking 27th in goals with 2.5 GF/GP.

Hill will get his second start of 2022-23 Thursday after stopping 31 of 33 shots in his Vegas debut in a 5-2 win over the Seattle Kraken last week. The netminder has backed up Logan Thompson for two of Vegas' three victories on the season and will be hoping to keep his .952 SV% in check when the Golden Knights host the Jets on Thursday. The Jets play their second game in as many nights after beating the Avalanche 4-3 in overtime last night.

Markstrom led the Flames onto the ice for warmups.

Markstrom stopped 19 of 21 shots winning his second straight game Tuesday as Calgary beat Vegas 3-2. Calgary is undefeated at 3-0-0 but Markstrom has not looked his usual self, amassing a .891 SV% and a 2.50 GAA in two winning starts so far in 2022-23. His Flames will host the 2-1-0 Buffalo Sabres who are coming off a 4-2 victory over Edmonton on Thursday.
